Hope Solo; Is Brtiney Spears Stinky & Dirty? ; Freeze That Bra; Obama's Trickle-Down Economy; Justice for Danieal Kelly

Border announced that it will liquidate its stock and close all of its stores nationwide. I don't think this is what Republicans meant by "closing our borders."--Kimmel

Today is a debt news holiday. I'm getting sick of listening to all of the knuckeheads in Congres debating the issue.
  • Hope Solo. Nothing to report. I just like her name a lot.
  • And while I'm on sports, Martensdale-St. Marys H.S.,in rural Iowa, won their 84th consecutive baseball game last week. It's a record.
  • Is Britney Spears stinky and dirty? Well, according to her former bodyguard, Fernando Flores, she is. He's claimed she did not bathe regularly, did not use deodorant and did not brush her teeth. Of course, the Britiney camp denies his allegations (NY Post).
  • With this almost unbearable hot weather, I was wondering: where the heck is that fake, phony and fraud Al Gore? And then it came to me. Most likely, he's in one of his several  humongous homes torching millions of carbon credits trying to stay cool.
  • Hot Weather Tip for Women: Put your bra in the refrigerator before you put it on.
  • Two teeny, weeny bits of bad news for the White House: Sales of existing homes fell to the lowest in seven months. And 418,000 applied for unemployement--that's 15 straight weeks in excess of 400k. Not good.
  • But there is good news for Pres. Obama. He's kicking ass in terms of fundraising and outpacing Romney and other Republicans. This means that there are still people out there who must believe he's doing a good job.
  • Obama's trickle-down economy: the number of homeless is rising, homes sales still in the toilet, more people on food stamps and the real unemployed rate is closer to 17%-20% (close to 50% for young, black men).
  • Cenk Uygur replaced Herr Keith Olberman when Olberman was "allegedly" fired by MSNBC. Uygur contends that he lost his show because the CEO of MSNBC got heat from the White House and Washington because Uygur was critical of Pres. Obama. Although I'd like to believe this story, but I have a feeling--like all of the other hosts of MSNBC--the guy probably sucked. If true, MSNBC should change its name to "Pravda."
  • I've often written about how the media hammers strong, conservative women like Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Laura Ingraham, Nikki Haley and many others even though these women are smart and nice on the eyes. It amazes me considering the criticism more often than not comes from the so-called "tolerant" crowd. One writer to the paper this morning wrote this, "Many members of the generation that demanded tolerance and freedom of expression have become an angry and intolerant remnant of their glory days."--Diane M. of Scotch Plains, NJ.
  • Several years ago when I heard Philadelphia's Dept. of Human Services had a consulting contract with a firm called "Multiethnic," my radar went off. It happens everytime I read about these organizations with PC names. Well, it appears my hunch was right---again.  Danieal Kelly was a 14 year old child with cerebral palsy  who died due to neglect and abuse. And the entire social service system in Philadelphia failed this poor child including the Department of Human Services and Multiethnic. But there is good news. At least 12 persons who were either directly or indirectly responsible for her supervision have either gone to prison or received probation. These include social workers and cofounders of Multiethnic. Too late for Danieal, but at least justice is done.
