Justin Bieber, Jolie, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Rihanna, USA Women's Soccer; 75 Minutes?; It's All About Uncertainty; Eat Your Peas!; Chris Mathews & Another DumbAss Quote; Michelle Obama Chows Down; Casey Anthony: Criminal Neglect?

"New Study Shows People With Panic Disorders Respond Poorly To Being Locked In Underwater Elevators."--The Onion

  • What do Bieber, Jolie, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Britney Spears and the entire USA Women's Soccer team have in common? They are all lovely women.
  • 75 minutes. That's how long congressional leaders and the president met to discuss the debt limit on two occasions this week. 75 minutes? That's about how long it takes me to play 2 holes of golf.
  • During this very "long" meeting, the president, once again, reiterated his belief that taxes need to be raised. Yet, in 2009, President Obama was AGAINST raising taxes during a recession.
  • Raymond J. Keating, economist for the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, points out correctly, "Weak GDP and job growth is all about costs and uncertainties faced by entrepreneurs, businesses and investors. These costs and uncertainties have to do with higher taxes, more regulation, stagnant trade policy, higher government spending, and related debt and freewheeling monetary policy."
  • So what did the president tell us to do yesterday? "Eat our peas." Mr. President, with all due respect, if this economy gets much worse, we'll be eating dog food purchased at the nearest dollar store (even dog food at a regular supermarket is too expensive).
  • Speaking of eating peas, someone might want to give that message to Michelle Obama. While she is currently on an anti-obesity campaign, the Washington Post noted that the First Lady consumed over 1,500 calories at a recent lunch at Shake Shack.
  • One in five recent graduates is out of work.
  • Pat Caddell, a long time Democrat political operative and liberal, said recently of President Obama, "Does this guy have any idea what he is doing?"
  • "DumbAss Quote of the Week" goes--yet again--to that dufis, Chris Mathews of MSNBC. He actually said, "Democrats have always been good at, {creating} jobs."
  • There appears to be some blowback against those who did not agree with the Casey Anthony verdict. They point out there was no clear evidence of how the child died. There were also no witnesses. All of that is true. Yet, there is one clear fact, she failed to report her child was missing for a month. So the evidence may very well be circumstantial and lacking, but not reporting on your missing child for such a long period of time (and what really is "too long" when your child is missing?) at the very least is criminal neglect in my opinion. Just sayin'.
