Does Anyone Miss The NBA?; Who Really Are The 1%?; Some Mayors Finally Grow A Set & Shutting Down the Pee Party Encampments; Did Sandusky Sound Credible to You? Election Will Not Be A Cake Walk for Republicans; Slo Joe Biden Praised Disgraced Corzine

From the sports section of The Onion this week: "NBA Says They Can Still Salvage A 10-Game Season."

  • Seriously folks, other than a small faction of hard-core NBA fans, does anyone care? The only people I feel sorry for are the small business owners around the arenas, the vendors, the parking lot attendants, etc.---the 99%.
  • Speaking of the 99%, let me repeat yet again: people making about $350k a year---a real nice piece of change---fall into the top 1% according to the IRS. But--THEY'RE NOT FRIGGIN MILLIONAIRES like the Left, the media and many Dems want you to think they are.
  • It's about freaking time. Several mayors, including that feckless Bloomberg in NYC, have had enough of the Occupy Pee Party crowd. They started clearing out the filth last night. As I write this, a court issued a restraining order allowing these morons to return to the park.
  • For those unfamiliar with Zucotti Park, below are before and after photos:

These photos are all you need to know. As one commentator wrote and I'm paraphrasing here, the Occupy crowd does not own the First Amendment. Other Americans have rights too.

A dear friend of mine summed it up best: To call them pigs is an insult to pigs.

  • On my blog yesterday, it had a photo of a former NYPD cop and "former" Marine dragging one of these misfits off the property the cop was securing. Apparently, Bloomberg was listening to this former cop who said, "There are muggings and assaults and rapes.  What else do you need? {regarding reasons to clean them out} A homicide? People need to die before it's shut down?
  • Although I didn't catch the "60 Minutes" piece with former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, I did see clips afterward. He was asked some good,  point-blank questions by NBC's Bob Costas (which, by the way, must be pissing ESPN off big time. NBC scooped them on this one). In response to a question about his alleged sexual abuse of children, he responded---with hesitation by the way, not directly---"I could say that I have done some of those things. I have horsed around with kids. I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them, and I have touched their legs without intent of sexual contact." Say friggin what? You admit to showering with children and then touching their legs "without intent of sexual contact?" Then why touch them at all? Hey, unless some other information comes out that vindicates this guy, I have no sympathy for him at all because he showed none for the kids.
  • I think Charles Krauthammer wrote it best in his piece today in the Philadelphia Inquirer, "For Republicans...They need substance. They need an articulate candidate with an agenda and command of the issues who is light on slogans and lighter still on baggage." In short, he pointed out how the strong Republican turnouts in the 2010 elections have now "becalmed."
  • If you've not seen the video yet, you must watch Slo Joe Biden praising disgraced former Gov. Corzine as "the smartest guy I know in terms of the economy." You can easily find it online. It's a hoot considering Joe Biden might be the dumbest politician in the history of this great Republic.
